Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions. - Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. US author and physician (1809-1894)

How FabVocab Will Make a Difference

FabVocab stands for Fabulous Vocabulary. And a fabulous vocabulary taught and acquired the right way will have multiple positive ripples:

Vast Vocabulary
Simply put 'vocabulary' means all the words that a person knows. The size of our 'word database' will directly impact the richness and clarity of our self-expression.

Let us take the example of a box of crayons to understand this concept more. If an artist has a set of only 12 basic crayons, the colourfulness of his drawing will be limited. If he has a set of 48 crayons, he can express himself so much better! His piece of art will look rich with details and variety as he will now have a wide range of shades, hues and tones at his disposal.

Vocabulary has that effect on communication. The more the words you know, the more the options to choose from. That gives you a chance to express in more specific terms, be precise, be clear and be better understood. For eg. 'beautiful' is a generic term, but 'attractive', 'mesmerising', 'gorgeous', 'handsome', 'good-looking', 'cute', 'striking' are specific because they all convey a different quality of beauty.

Improved Diction
In simple terms 'diction' means the choice of words used in speech or a piece of writing. This is related to, but different from having a vast vocabulary.

It is like having all sorts of ingredients in your kitchen, but not knowing which ones to use in preparing which dish. FabVocab will not only equip children with a wide range of words, it will also focus on the right contexts in which these new words can be appropriately used.

Greater Awareness of the World
The curriculum of FabVocab draws from various areas such as flora and fauna, professions, cultures, countries, culinary items, tools and equipments, fashion etc. This introduces children to several new concepts and additional information they otherwise would not have come face-to-face with. The methodology uses slideshows, presentations, audios, videos and real objects to enhance integrating of new information. A special feature of FabVocab is also that etymological roots of words will be focussed on, further strengthening their understanding of the language and its evolution over time.

Creative Thinking
Various activities and exercises used to reinforce the new vocabulary encourage creative thinking as they involve rearranging of letters and words, thinking out-of-the-box and stringing in various concepts to form a meaningful piece of work. Such mentally stimulating exercises present fun challenges to children and exercise their creative muscles.

Creative Writing
Building further on the above, more exercises are included to have children write essays, stories and even scripts to express their understanding of the new words. Let us wait and watch then, if we will uncover some hidden writing talent in our young friends!

Pronunciation and Other Basic Support
This is another unique selling point of FabVocab. Knowing new words in print is one thing, saying them out loud correctly is quite another! FabVocab insists on correct pronunciation. Also, minor irregularities in grammar, if any, will be corrected. Of course, correct spellings will also be ensured.

Public Speaking
There will be ample opportunities for children to practise their new words in speech. In doing so, shy and quiet children will be able to open up and speak fearlessly in the secure environment of a helpful teacher and encouraging batchmates.

Fluency in Spoken English
Put together all the above benefits and you will have your child speak fluent, rich and clear English over time. The only thing to understand here is that fluency in any language is acquired gradually. It is an on-going process, and so children must continue with this program long enough to start seeing the benefits.

Start the process NOW. Bring FabVocab into your child's world!
